Koukamma borders the Dr Beyers Naude Local Municipality to the north and the Kouga Local Municipality to the east. It is one of seven municipalities in the district. The administrative centre of Koukamma is located in Kareedouw, while Tweeriviere serves as the municipality’s commercial hub.
The council has 12 seats with 4 political parties and 1 Independent represented. The ANC is a largest party with 4 seats but falls shorts of the requisite 07 to govern. The PA currently runs the municipality with an eight-seat effective coalition made up of the PA, DA, FF+ and an independent candidate.
The council was constituted on November 2021 with one change.
