The Freedom Front Plus (FF+) has joined forces with the African National Congress (ANC) to form a new coalition government in the Oudtshoorn local municipality, following a fallout between the FF Plus and the Democratic Alliance (DA). Both the FF Plus and the DA are blaming each other for the collapse of the coalition, and the DA has accused the FF Plus of betraying the people of Karoo by joining forces with the ANC. While the new coalition seems to be inspired by the recent Government of National Unity (GNU) formed post the 2024 national and provincial general elections. “The FF Plus’ Johannes Allers and the ANC’s Jongilizwe Tyatya elected mayor and deputy mayor, respectively, during a special council meeting on Thursday.”
