The African National Congress resuscitated a motion of no confidence against Tshwane Mayor Cilliers Brink.

The ANC has filed another motion of no confidence against Mayor Cilliers Brink after the party withdrew a motion of no confidence in July 2024 in order to continue engaging with parties that have expressed interest in forming a government of local unity with the party. The City of Tshwane is currently led by the DA-led multiparty, which includes ActionSA, Freedom Front Plus, ACDP, IFP, and DOP. However, there is a possibility that the DA-led multiparty coalition might be on the brink of collapse if ActionSA decides to support the ANC’s motion of no confidence, following what they did in the City of Johannesburg when they supported the ANC‘s Johannesburg regional chairperson, Dada Morero, to become a new mayor of the City of Johannesburg, following the resignation of Kabelo Gwamanda. However, ActionSA has previously indicated that it will work with the ANC on a case-by-case basis and whether the City of Tshwane will be assessed based on their case-by-case basis, especially following the Auditor General’s findings, commending the City of Tshwane for its improved audit outcome.
