Eugene Modise elected deputy mayor and MMC for Finance

The African National Congress (ANC) regional chairperson Eugene Modise was elected as deputy mayor and MMC for Finance for the City of Tshwane during a special council meeting on Friday the 18th of October 2024. The new deputy mayor has promised the residents of Tshwane that he will ensure that there is financial prudence in the city by ensuring that all allocated conditional grants from National Treasury are fully spent.

To fulfil his promise of ensuring value for money and effective use of allocated funds, Modise will need to ensure proper implementation of stringent financial controls and oversight, to ensure that all allocated grants are spent effectively and transparently. The previous administration had embarked on upgrading water infrastructure to restore public confidence in the city’s ability to provide quality water to residence, which has been a major source of concerns for some townships Tshwane.
