The council has 13 seats with 4 political parties and one civic movement represented. The ANC and the DA are leading parties with 4 seats but falls short of the requisite 7 to govern alone. The last coalition between the ANC and PA totalling 7 seats. However, following the by elections the DA won an outright majority in Beaufort West by sweeping all three contested wards, including taking two off the Patriotic Alliance in the town of Beaufort West and one off the ANC. The municipality is no longer under coalition.
The council was constituted on November 2021 and it had six changes.
