The Emfuleni Local Municipality (previously Lekoa) is one of three Local Municipalities comprising the Sedibeng District Municipality situated in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng, South Africa. The Vaal River forms the southern boundary of the Emfuleni Local Municipality and its strategic location affords it many opportunities for tourism and other forms of economic development.

Composition of Council

The council has 90 seats in its council with 10 political parties represented in council. The ANC is a leading party with 38 seats but falls short of the requisite 46 to govern alone. The current coalition is made up of ANC, EFF, PAC, CSA, FF+ and VAAL totalling 68 seats.
