The Metsimaholo Local Municipality is a Category B municipality located within the Fezile Dabi District of the Free State Province.

The municipality is the smallest of the four municipalities in the district. It was established in 2000 through the amalgamation of the former Sasolburg, Deneysville, and Oranjeville Transitional Local Councils. The area is known for its rich history, diverse communities, and various economic activities, including industrial development, agriculture, and tourism.

Composition of Council

The council has 46 seats with 6 political parties 1 civic movement represented. The ANC is a leading party with 16 seats but falls short of the requisite 24 seats to govern alone. The current coalition is made up of the ANC, AIC and the EFF totalling 29 of seats.
