Former Mayor Kabelo Gwamanda has been dismissed from his position as the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Community Development in the City of Johannesburg. The dismissal, which took place on November 8, 2024, follows serious allegations that Gwamanda was involved in a funeral policy scam, defrauding individuals. The decision to remove Gwamanda from his role in the mayoral committee, particularly within the coalition government, has caused some tension within the coalition. Al Jamah, has accused Johannesburg mayor Dada Morero, of acting unilaterally in firing Gwamanda without consulting the party.
