KwaDukuza mayor removed through a motion no-confidence.

Cllr Lindile Nhaca (African National Congress), was removed as mayor of KwaDukuza through a vote of no confidence on Thursday the 31st October 2024. Her ousting comes after the ANC requested her to step down due to allegations of sowing divisions in council and defying, they party’s directives.  Her removal can be considered a reflection of the ANC’s commitment to its renewal agenda and dealing with what it perceives as “rogue elements” within the party. Despite her removal from the mayoral position, the ANC has decided to allow her to retain her seat as a proportional representation (PR) councillor.
