The Government of Local Unity (GLU) is making inroads in the Western Cape.

A newly formed coalition government between the African National Congress (ANC), Patriotic Alliance (PA), and Freedom Front Plus (FF+) under the auspice of the Government of Local Unity (GLU) in the Western Cape province is making inroads in the Democratic Alliance (DA)-led coalition municipalities. Just two weeks after the DA took over the Theewaterskloof local municipality from the ANC, the FF+ has again helped the ANC-led coalition to reclaim the municipality. This is the second municipality in the province, where the FF+ has helped the ANC to reclaim the municipality from the DA, following a coalition breakdown between the DA and the FF+. Tienie Zimmerman of the FF+ was elected the new mayor following a successful vote of no confidence against the DA mayor, Lincoln de Bruyn.
