The mayor of KwaDukuza has been removed from her position and suspended from the ANC following accusations of serious insubordination.

The recent decision by the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal to remove Lindi Nhaca as mayor of KwaDukuza highlights the party’s commitment to enforcing discipline among its members. The provincial spokesperson, Mr. Mndebele, emphasized that Nhaca’s suspension stems from her defiance of party decisions and public actions that jeopardize ongoing disciplinary processes. This move aligns with ANC Secretary General Mr. Fikile Mbalula’s broader initiative to restore order within the party. Mbalula has made it clear that there will be zero tolerance for members who undermine the party’s authority or publicly criticize its leadership. His stance is aimed at ensuring that all ANC members prioritize the party’s strategic objectives over personal interests. Mndebele’s warning to other party members that “We remind leaders deployed to different spheres of government that all ANC members who swear allegiance to the party have to accept that they serve the ANC and ultimately the people under the banner of the organisation. Linked to the above, ANC members who swear allegiance to the organisation are expected to subordinate their interest to the party’s strategic objectives,” This situation serves as a reminder of the challenges the ANC faces as it attempts to navigate internal conflicts while maintaining its unity and focus on serving the public.
